FACEBOOK

Facebook is a social networking tool that allows people to stay in touch with each other. Users are able to add friends, create wall posts, send messages, and view friends' profie and pictures. From a business perspective, Facebook has a difficult time separating one's personal blog from one's business blog. Facebook seems to be more of a social contact instead of a business platform from which serious advertisements could take place. However, in the future the possibilities of facebook intergrating a business application is not far fetched. If and when facebook can intergrate a business application in conjunction with it's 250 million users, the possibilities would be endless.

Twitter

What are you doing? This is the question that the social networking application called Twitter ask? Although simple in appearance, Twitter has been named one of the top fifty most popular web sites in the world. Short messages of up to 140 characters called "tweets" are able to keep the author and his followers in constant contact. The author of the site has the ability to open his site to all, or to restrict his site to only those he may choose.

Google Mobile

Google Mobile is an application that allows you to download Google Maps to your cell phone. From getting simple driving directions from one location to the next, or seeing your current location on a map, Google Mobile has many user friendly applications available. One can also search for any particular business by key words( such as the business' product or service) and will be able to receive instant directions to the desired location. Thanks to the real time traffic, you will be able to find the quickest route to the desired location and be able to avoid any potential road blocks.
This mobile application will run on Blackberry, IPhone, and many other smart phones.

GOOGLE MAPS API

Google Maps API is a Google Maps application that allows you to embed Google maps into your own website using JavaScript. Through the API utilities, your map can be edited by adding content through a variety of services just like the Google Maps web page. Google Maps API is a free service that is free for any web site that is free to consumers. The Google Maps API allows the business to add user friendly interactive maps to their web site, which aids the customer in finding the information which they are searching for. The API's give programmers multiple ways of embedding Google maps into web pages, through this the consumer has the option of simple interaction or extensive customization.

Google Local Business Center

Another application of Google Maps is the Google Local Business Center. With this function customers are able to find ones' business when they are searching for specific information for a certain area. The advertisement is free and one is able to post their address, hours of business, a picture of their products or a picture of their store front. Whether one has a single business or multiple stores, they can all be managed from one account. A listing can be updated at anytime and the change will take affect in a few weeks. At my place of employment, the office manager listed our business today. The proces was very easy and was not time consuming. Once the listing is complete the location of ones' business is marked and made easily accessible for potential customers.

Google Maps

Google maps is a service provided by google for logistics purposes. It has many benefits and applications to be taken advatage of. Part of my job at my company is coordinating deliveries(getting our product to the customer the most efficient way possible). With fuel prices still relatively high, the shortest route to a job as possible saves the company money which helps in a stagnate economy. Google maps are very current and have even the new subdivisions that are being developed now. It is very important at my job to be able to get the customer the product they want when they want it.
